Papers of Ruth (Bradford) and Captain Ira Crowell, including correspondence, memorabilia, and photographs. Ruth, the daughter of the Rev. Arthur B. Bradford of Pennsylvania, married Capt. Ira Crowell of Cape Cod in 1869 and lived with him in China for 20 years. Crowell was a ship captain for the merchant firm of Augustine Heard & Co. in Hong Kong. The correspondence mainly describes life in China and Hong Kong in the 1870s. Letters are written to Arthur Bradford and other family members.
